Kinetico and Living Water at a glance
Kinetico is known for softeners it describes as non-electric: its site says they have "no timers, computers or other electrical components to repair or replace." Living Water is a local South Florida option using Puronics equipment, with a free in-home test by Jorge Canela.
The table below lists only what Kinetico publishes on its own website and the basic facts about Living Water. It is a starting point for questions, not a verdict.
| Topic | Kinetico (per its official site) | Living Water |
|---|---|---|
| Product categories | Water softeners (Premier and Signature Series), drinking water filtration including reverse osmosis, whole-home filtration, specialty filters, and smart home products such as a salt monitor and app | Whole-home systems for city water (Puronics Clarius iGen and Goodspring), ion-exchange softeners for homes and businesses, alkaline reverse osmosis under-sink systems, well water treatment |
| Salt-free option | Kinetico's warranty page lists a Scale Reduction System among its specialty solutions. Its softener pages explain that salt-free systems "do not fully soften water." | Living Water's softening systems are ion-exchange; ask Jorge what fits your test results |
| How it is sold | Sold through authorized independent dealers; the site says its water professionals are "factory-trained and authorized to install and service" Kinetico systems. | Local specialist: Jorge Canela serves Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach |
| Water test | Kinetico offers a free, in-home test and analysis to determine a "Water Score." | Free in-home water test with results explained in plain words; no obligation |
| Warranty | Limited residential warranties are published by product line; Kinetico says they are transferable and valid only if the product is installed, operated and serviced according to Kinetico's recommendations. | Ask Jorge for the written warranty on the exact Puronics model quoted |
| Financing | Ask the provider | Offered through Living Water's financing partners; apply with a credit application, with a co-applicant if you like |
Electric or non-electric: does it matter for you?
Kinetico states its softeners use non-electric technology. Many other softeners, including those from other manufacturers, use an electronic control valve. Neither design is automatically right for every home. What matters is how the system decides when to regenerate, how much water and salt it uses, where it can be installed, and who services it.
When you compare, ask each provider: how does this unit regenerate, does it need an outlet, what happens during a power outage, and what routine service does it need? Write the answers down so you can compare side by side.
Questions to ask either company
Whichever provider you talk to, these questions make quotes comparable:
| Ask this | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| What did my water test show, in writing? | The recommendation should trace back to your hardness, disinfectant, iron or other measured results. |
| What is the exact model and what is it certified for? | Look up the model's NSF/ANSI or WQA listing for any specific contaminant claim. |
| Salt-based or salt-free, and why for my home? | They work differently; the choice should match your measured hardness and goals. |
| What does installation include? | Bypass valve, drain, electrical, faucet, permits: confirm nothing is left out. |
| What upkeep comes after year one? | Filters, media, salt, membrane changes and service visits. |
| Who honors the warranty, and what does it cover? | Manufacturer vs installer, parts vs labor, length, transfer on sale. |

How to choose for a South Florida home
- Start with your water. City homes usually ask about chlorine or chloramine taste and odor and about scale. Well homes may deal with iron, sulfur smell or hardness. Your utility's annual Water Quality Report is a good place to begin.
- Match the system type to the problem. A softener handles hardness; carbon-based whole-home filtration addresses taste and odor; under-sink reverse osmosis is a drinking-water option.
- Compare written quotes line by line. Equipment, installation, upkeep and warranty, not just the total.
