Start with the city's report
The 2025 Water Quality Report covers monitoring from January 1 to December 31, 2025. It's on the city's Environmental Services page, and printed copies are available at City Hall, the public libraries and the Century Village Main Club House, among other locations. For questions about the report, the Environmental Compliance Superintendent is at 954-480-4370.
What a home test adds
| Test | Why at your house |
|---|---|
| Chloramine | The report's range is 0.5 to 3.9 ppm; your level depends on location and use |
| Hardness | The report describes hardness treatment but gives no single figure |
| TDS and pH | Baseline for drinking water choices; the plant blends three processes |
| Iron | Useful for stains from a well |
Results can differ from tap to tap in the same house, especially if a fixture is rarely used. Jorge tests where your concerns are: the kitchen, a guest bathroom, an outdoor spigot or the irrigation line.
Timing around free chlorination
During the city's yearly free chlorination period (September 4 to 24 in 2025), the disinfectant changes from chloramine to free chlorine, and hydrant flushing can briefly discolor water. Testing during those weeks gives different readings. Jorge takes that into account, or you can book outside the period for a typical picture.
Lead and lab testing
The city's service line inventory found no lead service lines; check yours at www.dfb.city/waterline. In 2023 tap sampling, the 90th percentile lead result was 2.95 ppb against the 15 ppb action level, with one sampling site above the action level. Lead in tap water usually comes from home plumbing materials. If you're concerned about your plumbing, a certified lab test is the right tool, and the report notes the city's water treatment staff can discuss testing. An in-home screening isn't a lead test.
Private wells
The Florida Department of Health says private well owners are responsible for their well's water quality and recommends routine bacteria and nitrate testing at a certified lab. See well water in Deerfield Beach.
How the visit works
- Call, text or WhatsApp (305) 793-5974.
