Two tests, two purposes
| Test | Who does it | What it answers |
|---|---|---|
| Bacteria and nitrate lab test | Certified lab or county health department kit | Is the well producing water that meets drinking standards for those items? |
| Treatment screening | Jorge, at your home, free | What is causing stains, odor or scale, and what equipment would fix it? |
Jorge's screening is not a certified lab analysis, and he will tell you which lab tests to add for your situation.
Why wells here need regular testing
The Town's 2024 comprehensive plan analysis says most of the Town operates on domestic self-supply wells that draw from the surficial aquifer. Shallow groundwater responds to rainfall, flooding and nearby land use, and the Town's canal system, maintained by the Loxahatchee Groves Water Control District, moves a lot of water through the area. The Florida DOH advises testing again after flooding, well repairs or any change in taste, smell or color.
If you are on county water
Homes on Palm Beach County Water Utilities mains along Southern Boulevard, Okeechobee Boulevard and 40th Street North are tested by the utility, which publishes an annual Water Quality Report. The 2025 report lists zero water quality violations. A home test then focuses on what happens inside your house: chloramine level at the tap, hardness, TDS and any plumbing-related issue.
What happens during Jorge's visit
- He asks what you notice: stains, smell, taste, scale, pressure.
- He tests at the kitchen tap and, on a well, near the pressure tank or a raw-water point.
- He checks hot and cold if there is an odor.
- He explains each result in plain words and what it means for treatment.
- If something fits, you get an itemized quote; if nothing is needed, he says so.

Before the visit, it helps to have the well's age and depth if you know them, any past lab results, and a note of when the problem is worst (morning, after rain, hot water only). Call, text or WhatsApp Jorge at (305) 793-5974. For lab differences, read home screening vs. lab analysis.
