Start with the city's report
The City of Pompano Beach's 2025 Water Quality Report covers January 1 to December 31, 2025, for Pompano Beach, Lighthouse Point and Lauderdale-by-the-Sea. The city says over 80 compounds are monitored in source and drinking water, and bacteria testing rotates through about 90 sites a month. If you have questions about the report, the Utilities Lab Manager is at 954-545-7018, a number the report also gives for help translating it into Spanish.
What a home test adds
- Chloramine at your tap: the report's range is 0.61 to 4.0 ppm, so your level depends on where you are on the system.
- Hardness: the city says typically 1 to 2 grains; a test confirms it for your address.
- TDS and pH: a baseline for drinking water choices.
- Iron: helpful if you see staining from an irrigation well.
Discolored or odd-smelling water: the city's own tips
The city's FAQ says brown or yellow water can follow main repairs and flushing nearby. A funny smell may come from a home that sat vacant, where water in the heater "has gone bad from the anode." A pink film in showers is usually airborne bacteria on moist surfaces, not a water quality problem. Jorge uses these same checks before suggesting equipment.
Lead and lab testing
Pompano Beach's 2023 lead and copper sampling found no site over the action level, and the city says it has no utility-owned lead service lines. Its online map shows recorded service line materials by address. If you are concerned about lead in your own plumbing, the city lab will discuss testing at 954-545-7018. An in-home screening is not a lead test.
Private wells
The Florida Department of Health says private well owners are responsible for their own well's water quality, and recommends routine testing for bacteria and nitrate through a certified lab. See well water in Pompano Beach.
If Broward County supplies your water
Not every Pompano Beach address is on the city system. Some neighborhoods, such as Pompano Highlands, are served by Broward County Water and Wastewater Services, whose customer line is 954-831-3250. Its annual report covers different plants: Broward County says it softens Biscayne Aquifer water with lime and ferric chloride and disinfects with chloramines. Jorge's in-home test works the same way on either supply, but knowing which report applies to you helps you read your results against the right numbers. Your water bill shows who your provider is.
How the visit works
- Call, text or WhatsApp (305) 793-5974.
- Jorge tests at your kitchen tap and anywhere else that matters.
- He explains the results in plain words.
- If a system fits, you get an itemized quote. If not, he says so.
