Start with WASD's report
Because WASD operates all water service in Sweetwater, there is no separate city water report. WASD's 2025 Water Quality Report, posted on the county's water quality reports page, covers the main system that serves the city. It lists chloramine at 2.5 ppm, fluoride now at natural levels, sodium at 33 ppm, and a separate table of PFAS monitoring. Read it, then test your tap.
What Jorge measures
| Reading | What it tells you |
|---|---|
| Total and free chlorine | How much chloramine reaches your tap |
| Hardness | Whether scale is likely after county softening |
| Total dissolved solids | Overall mineral content; a baseline for RO |
| pH | Taste and media performance |
| Iron, odor | Mostly for wells, irrigation and hot water smells |
Buildings change the picture
In an apartment or condo building, water travels through the building's own risers and sometimes a booster pump or storage before your unit. A unit at the end of a long run may show a lower chloramine reading after water sits. Testing in your kitchen captures all of that.
When to use a certified lab instead
- PFAS, which are measured in parts per trillion.
- Lead at low levels, especially in older plumbing. WASD's report points to its laboratory lines for lead sampling information.
- Bacteria and nitrate in a private well, which the Florida Department of Health recommends testing every year.
See home screening vs. lab analysis.
How the visit works
- Call, text or WhatsApp (305) 793-5974.
- Jorge tests your kitchen tap, and hot water too if you have a smell question.
- He explains each reading.
- If nothing is needed, he says so. Otherwise you get an itemized quote.
Read what happens during a home water assessment.
Good times to test
- After moving into a new apartment or house.
- When the water smells stronger, as during WASD's yearly free chlorine weeks.
- When spots or scale build up quickly.
- When a business is buying new dishwashers, ice machines or coffee equipment.
