Why the report looks out of date
Water reports list each contaminant's most recent required sample. Fluoride in Wilton Manors' 2025 table is dated April 2023, when fluoride was still being added, so the 0.699 ppm figure predates the change. The report's description of treatment also still mentions fluoridation. Fort Lauderdale's own 2025 report states plainly that it discontinued fluoride before July 2025. For a current number, ask Wilton Manors Utilities at (954) 390-2190 or test your tap.
The state law
Florida's 2025 Senate Bill 700 prohibits adding fluoride to public water systems, effective July 1, 2025. It does not affect natural fluoride already in the groundwater.
Natural fluoride levels in treated Biscayne Aquifer water are generally low, but they are not zero, and they can differ from what older reports show once added fluoride is gone. That is why the next reports, or a lab test, are the right place to look for a current number rather than the 2023 figure.
Ways to reduce fluoride at home
| Method | Fluoride? | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Reverse osmosis | A common method | Check fluoride on the model's NSF/ANSI 58 listing or data sheet |
| Activated alumina | Designed for it in some systems | Maintenance matters |
| Pitcher and fridge filters | Usually not | Check the listing |
| Whole-home carbon | No | Aimed at chloramine |

Our position
This page is about what is in the water, not whether fluoride is good or bad for you. Talk with your dentist or doctor about fluoride and dental care. Living Water's under-sink systems are multi-stage alkaline RO units; ask Jorge for the model's performance data so you can verify any fluoride claim.
If you want a current number
Because the latest table predates the change, the most reliable current figure comes from a certified lab test at your tap or from the next Water Quality Report. Fort Lauderdale's new Prospect Lake plant, which began supplying water in September 2026, falls under the same state law on fluoride additives; natural fluoride in the Biscayne Aquifer is a separate matter that future reports will show. If fluoride is your only concern, ask for a lab test before buying equipment so you know the starting level. Ask the lab for its method and reporting limit so you can compare results over time.
