Chloramine
The City of Coral Springs (2.7 ppm, 2025), CSID (2.9 ppm, 2024) and NSID (3.66 ppm, 2024) all report chloramine levels within the 4.0 standard. Some people simply prefer how water feels and smells without it, especially in a long shower.
Hardness differs by provider
Lime-softened City water and membrane-treated CSID and NSID water all have reduced hardness compared with raw groundwater. CSID blends some bypass water back to add alkalinity and hardness for drinking water quality. If soap seems hard to rinse, a test shows whether hardness is actually a factor at your tap.
Things that matter as much as the water
Long hot showers, harsh soaps and dry air-conditioned indoor air all play a role. Try shorter, cooler showers and a gentler soap for a week or two. If that helps a lot, the water may not be the main factor.
The July chlorination weeks
Each July, Coral Springs' providers temporarily change their chlorination method; in 2026, July 13 to 27. Some people notice a stronger chlorine smell in the shower then. If you notice a difference in those weeks, mention it during your test. It is a useful clue about what you are sensitive to, not a diagnosis.
A simple two-week check
- Week one: keep your normal routine and note how skin and hair feel.
- Week two: shorter, cooler showers and a fragrance-free soap.
- If you improve a lot, the water may not be the main factor.
- If not, test the water.
Write down your provider too. Coral Springs residents on different providers get water treated in different ways, so it helps to compare notes with your test results rather than with a neighbor in another district.
If the test shows the water is a factor, a whole-home system is the option that covers every shower in the house, rather than one shower head at a time.
Whatever the result, Jorge will tell you plainly whether the water looks like a factor at all.
What a test shows and the options
Jorge measures disinfectant and hardness at the shower or nearest tap.
- Chloramine at the reported level and low hardness: whole-home filtration is the relevant option.
- Higher hardness than expected: a softener may be worth discussing.
- Both low: the water probably is not the main factor.
Shower-head filters are small; check whether the listing includes chloramine.
When to see a professional
Persistent itching, rashes or eczema should be checked by a dermatologist. A water system is not a treatment for any medical condition.
