What WASD's report covers for Doral
Doral is served by WASD's main system. Its annual Water Quality Report, posted on miamidade.gov, explains the source (the Biscayne Aquifer), how each plant treats the water, and a data table of results for the year. When reading it:
- Use the Main System columns.
- Find chloramines under disinfectants; that is what you taste and smell.
- Compare each result with its MCL, the legal limit, and check the violation column.
- For questions about the Hialeah and Preston plants, which generally supply areas north of SW 8 Street like Doral, the report lists WASD's water quality line at 786-552-4738.
Why a test at your tap still matters
The report describes water in the county system. Your tap adds your building's plumbing, your water heater and any equipment already installed. In a condo tower, water may also pass through building tanks and pumps. A test at your tap is the only way to know what you are drinking and showering in.
The same goes for businesses. A restaurant or gym may have its own water heaters, booster pumps or older filters that change the water before it reaches the fixtures that matter.
When to book a test in Doral
- You just moved into a new or resale home and want a baseline.
- You noticed the water smelling stronger for a couple of weeks, which can happen when WASD temporarily switches from chloramine to free chlorine.
- You see spots or scale and want to know if a softener is justified.
- You run a restaurant, gym or office and want to protect equipment.
- You are comparing quotes and want a neutral starting point.
What happens during the visit
- Jorge asks what you have noticed.
- He tests water from your tap.
- He explains each result in plain words.
- He recommends a system only if it fits, or tells you that you do not need one.

Home screening vs. lab analysis
An in-home screening is practical for everyday decisions like hardness and disinfectant taste. For a documented result on a specific contaminant, such as lead from home plumbing, use a state-certified laboratory. WASD also publishes information on service line materials at miamidade.gov/knowyourpipes. Compare the options in home screening vs. lab analysis.
