FORT LAUDERDALE · FLUORIDE

Fluoride Water Filter in Fort Lauderdale

The City of Fort Lauderdale stopped adding fluoride to its water before July 2025, in compliance with Florida law, according to its 2025 Water Quality Report. Groundwater can still carry small natural amounts. If you want to reduce fluoride further, reverse osmosis at the kitchen sink is a common method; confirm that the exact model is certified for fluoride reduction before you rely on it.

What the city's report says

The 2025 report explains that fluoride was historically added to promote healthy teeth, and that the city discontinued it before July 2025 to comply with Florida law. Florida's Senate Bill 700 took effect on July 1, 2025.

One detail when reading the data table: the fluoride row shows a level of 0.699 ppm with a sampling date of April 2023, from before the change. Each row shows the most recent required sampling, so a table can lag behind a treatment change. The regulatory maximum is 4.0 ppm. For a current number, ask the Customer Service Center at 954-828-8000 or test your tap.

A new plant, the same policy

The Prospect Lake Clean Water Center began supplying water in September 2026 and opened officially on October 15, 2026, replacing Fiveash as the city's primary plant. State law on fluoride additives applies to it the same way. Natural fluoride from the Biscayne Aquifer is a separate question; the city's next report is the place to see post-change results.

Living Water's under-sink systems are multi-stage alkaline RO units with a dedicated faucet. Ask Jorge for the model's performance data so you can verify any fluoride claim yourself.

We stay neutral on fluoride

This page is about the water, not about whether fluoride is good or bad for you. Talk with your dentist or doctor about fluoride and dental care. Our job is telling you what is in your tap and what equipment is designed to change it.

Choosing for a Fort Lauderdale home

Fluoride questions usually lead to a drinking water system decision. Condo owners along the beach or downtown typically choose under-sink RO. Houses often pair RO with a whole-home chloramine filter. Jorge tests your water free and explains the options; call, text or WhatsApp (305) 793-5974.
