Start with the measured number
The town's 2025 report describes treatment to remove hardness but does not publish a hardness figure. That is why the first step is a hardness test at your tap. If the number is low, Jorge will tell you a softener is not worth the money and point you toward the thing that actually fits your complaint, whether that is chlorine, spots or taste.
When you do need one: what moves the price
- Hardness and iron in the water being treated, which set resin capacity.
- Daily water use, from a household to a building or restaurant.
- Valve type: metered valves regenerate on actual use.
- Installation: location at the main line, drain and power access, and a bypass valve.
- Other stages, such as iron or sulfur treatment on a well.
Ownership costs, in questions
- How much salt or potassium will it use per month at my water use?
- How much water does each regeneration send to the drain?
- What is the expected resin life, and what service is included?
- Who programs it, and can I see the settings?

Buildings and businesses
Living Water installs ion-exchange softening plants for businesses such as hotels, restaurants, offices and gyms. For a building on Hillsboro Mile, sizing follows daily volume and the equipment being protected. The quote should show capacity, regeneration settings and expected salt use.
Alternatives that cost less
If your complaint is spots on glass or a little scale on the shower head, cheaper steps often do the job on already-softened town water: a squeegee for shower doors, rinse aid in the dishwasher, periodic descaling of the coffee maker and an annual water-heater flush. If the complaint is chlorine taste or smell, a softener will not touch it; a carbon filter will. Jorge will tell you if one of these simpler answers fits, because a softener that is not needed is money and salt spent every month for nothing.
Before you sign anything
Ask any seller what hardness they measured and how it compares with the town's softened supply. If they did not measure, the quote is a guess. Living Water offers financing through its financing partners; you apply with a credit application, and a co-applicant can apply with you. Call, text or WhatsApp (305) 793-5974.
