Why many Lake Park homes spend nothing here
Seacoast's Hood Road plant is mostly nanofiltration, which the utility describes as demineralization of its fresh surficial water. Water that has passed through membranes at the plant does not usually need a second round of softening at home. Seacoast's report does not publish a hardness number, so Jorge measures it at your tap before recommending anything.
When you do need one: price drivers
- Measured hardness and iron, which set capacity and regeneration frequency.
- Water use: household size or a business's daily volume.
- Valve type: metered regeneration uses salt based on actual use.
- Installation: drain, outlet, bypass and space.
Ongoing costs
- Salt or potassium at your use.
- Water used during regeneration.
- Resin life and service visits.

Businesses in Lake Park
Restaurants, laundries, offices and similar businesses size a softener by daily volume and the equipment it protects. Living Water installs ion-exchange softening plants for businesses; the quote should list capacity, regeneration settings and service.
If your test shows low hardness
Then the honest answer is that you do not need to spend money on softening. Jorge will show you the result and explain what is actually behind the spots or film you notice, often evaporation on glass or irrigation spray outdoors. If chloramine is the real complaint, the money is better spent on a filter. See filtration cost in Lake Park.
If you are on a private well, the picture is different: well water around Lake Park has not been through Seacoast's membranes, and a softener is often part of a well system.
Business softeners: what to compare
For a business, the quote should show the daily gallons the softener is sized for, which equipment it protects, the regeneration schedule and the salt it will use. Two quotes for different capacities are not comparable until those numbers match. Ask for the hardness result that sizing was based on, measured at your building.
Salt delivery and storage. Ask where the brine tank will sit, how often it needs refilling at your use, and whether bags are easy to carry to that spot. In a garage or utility room that is simple; in a tight condo closet it is a real consideration.
Questions before you pay for softening
- What hardness did you measure at my tap, and in what units?
- Why this capacity?
- Would a filter fix my actual complaint instead?
Living Water offers financing through its financing partners; you apply with a credit application, and a co-applicant can apply with you. Book a free hardness test: (305) 793-5974.
