City RO vs. home RO
The City of Lake Worth Beach treats brackish Floridan Aquifer water with reverse osmosis, an average of 5.1 million gallons a day by design, and blends it with lime-softened water from shallow wells. After blending, chloramine is added so the water stays protected in the pipes. Your tap water is the blend, with that residual.
A home system works at the end of the line. It removes most dissolved solids and, with its carbon stages, the chloramine taste, just for the water you drink and cook with.
What the Living Water system includes
- Multi-stage filtration: sediment and carbon pre-filters, the RO membrane, and a post-filter.
- An alkaline remineralization stage for taste.
- A dedicated faucet at the sink.
- A compact footprint for home, office, apartment or gym. See the compact alkaline RO system.
A good fit for Lake Worth Beach apartments
Many households in the city rent or live in condos and small multi-unit buildings, where main-line equipment is not an option. An under-sink system needs only cabinet space, a cold-water connection and a drain connection. Ask your landlord or association before installation if your lease or bylaws require it.
Certification matters
If you want an RO system for a specific contaminant, the model must be certified under NSF/ANSI 58 for that contaminant. Check the exact model number on the certifier's listing. Living Water does not make contaminant-removal claims beyond what a model's certification states.
What to measure before buying
Jorge checks total dissolved solids, chloramine, pH and water pressure at your kitchen tap. Pressure matters because RO membranes need enough of it to work well. After installation, a TDS reading at the RO faucet shows you the difference in plain numbers.

Upkeep to plan for
RO systems have pre-filters and post-filters that are replaced on a schedule, and a membrane that lasts longer. Lake Worth Beach water arrives with low iron and is already partly softened at the plant, which is kind to a membrane, but the chloramine still has to be handled by the carbon stages before the water reaches it. Ask for the replacement schedule in writing and what each change involves. The system also sends some water to the drain while it makes drinking water; ask how much for the model you are shown.
