Why RO suits this town
- Condos and rentals: it installs inside your unit, under the sink, with no change to the building's plumbing.
- Drinking water focus: it treats the water you drink and cook with, which is where most taste complaints start.
- Either supplier: both Fort Lauderdale and Pompano Beach water is chloraminated, so the carbon stages before the membrane matter on both sides of town.
How the stages work
- Sediment catches particles.
- Carbon reduces chlorine and chloramine, protecting the membrane.
- RO membrane reduces dissolved solids.
- Alkaline remineralization adds minerals back for taste.
- Final polish before the dedicated faucet.

What Jorge checks in your kitchen
- Cabinet space, the drain connection and room for a tank if the model uses one.
- Water pressure, which affects how quickly an RO produces water.
- Whether you want a line to the refrigerator or ice maker.
- Your current TDS and chloramine readings, so you can compare after install.
Condo building rules
Some associations ask for notice or a licensed installer for any plumbing work, even under a sink. Check your building's rules before the install day. Jorge can explain exactly what the install involves so you can describe it to management.
Living with RO in a seasonal home
Many owners here spend part of the year away. RO water that sits in a tank or lines for weeks is best flushed when you return: run the RO faucet for a few minutes and, if your model uses a tank, let it refill. Plan filter changes around when you are in town so a cartridge is not sitting past its schedule while the home is empty. Jorge can set up a reminder schedule that matches your season.
What RO will not do
An under-sink system treats only the water from its own faucet (and a fridge line, if connected). Showers, laundry and other taps still get regular city water. If chloramine in the shower bothers you too, look at a whole-home system for a house.
