What a whole-home system is solving here
Both of the town's suppliers add chloramine to keep water disinfected through the pipes. Fort Lauderdale's 2025 report lists an average of 2.3 ppm; Pompano Beach's lists a highest running annual average of 3.36 ppm. That residual is safe within limits, but it is what people notice in a glass of water or a hot shower. A whole-home system aimed at chloramine changes the water at every tap at once.
Living Water describes its Puronics Clarius iGen and Goodspring city water systems as removing chloramine and chlorine. See the city water system.
Which homes in town can install one
- Single-family homes and villas: the best fit. The system goes on the main line, usually outside or in the garage.
- Townhomes with their own meter and shutoff: often possible, depending on space and association rules.
- Condos and apartments in shared buildings: usually not, because units share a main line. An under-sink RO in the kitchen is the realistic option.
What Jorge checks at the main line
- Total and free chlorine at your tap, to confirm the chloramine level you actually receive.
- Pipe size and the flow your household uses at peak, so the system is sized for enough contact time.
- Where it can sit: shade, protection from salt spray, a bypass valve and a drain if needed.
- Hardness, so you do not pay for softening that your utility already did.
Beach-town installation details
Equipment near the ocean is exposed to salt air, so placement and enclosure matter more than inland. Some older homes have tight side yards. Jorge looks at where the main line enters and plans the install so you can still reach the bypass and service the system. Ask any installer how they protect the equipment and what maintenance it needs.
Whole-home plus kitchen RO
Many households pair a whole-home filter with reverse osmosis at the kitchen sink. The whole-home system handles showers and laundry; the RO polishes drinking and cooking water. Compare them on whole-house filtration vs. reverse osmosis.
