The facts
- Pompano Beach's 2025 report lists fluoride at 0.59 ppm (February 2025) against an MCL of 4.0.
- Florida Senate Bill 700, Chapter 2025-22, took effect July 1, 2025 and prohibits adding fluoride and similar additives to public water.
- The report lists erosion of natural deposits among fluoride's sources.

Lighthouse Point doesn't add or remove anything from its water itself; it receives water treated by Pompano Beach. So the state law and the Pompano Beach report together give you the full picture for your tap.
No position on fluoride
This page explains what's in the water and what equipment does. It doesn't take a side on fluoride. Health questions belong with your dentist or doctor.
Methods compared
| Method | Fluoride? |
|---|---|
| Reverse osmosis | Common method; check the model's certification |
| Activated carbon | Generally not designed for fluoride |
| Whole-home chloramine system | Not a fluoride solution |
Point of use is the norm
People who want less fluoride usually treat only the water they drink and cook with, using RO at the kitchen sink and sometimes the fridge line. Showers and laundry stay as they are. An alkaline stage after the membrane adds minerals back for taste. See under-sink RO.
Filter and membrane replacement keeps RO performing; ask for a written schedule and see RO cost in Lighthouse Point for what drives ownership costs.
Certification
Look for NSF/ANSI 58 certification listing fluoride for the exact model, and keep filters on schedule. If a seller can't show you the listing, treat the claim as unverified.
Where fluoride shows up in the report
In Pompano Beach's 2025 report, fluoride sits in the Inorganic Contaminants table with its sampling date, the level detected, the MCL and MCLG, and the likely sources. Because the report covers Pompano Beach, Lighthouse Point and Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, the figure applies to all three. Future reports will show results from after the July 2025 change in state law.
Testing
A lab measures fluoride precisely. Jorge's free test covers chloramine, hardness, TDS, pH and iron, and he can show you where fluoride appears in the report. Call, text or WhatsApp (305) 793-5974.
