Plant RO vs. kitchen RO
It sounds redundant: why add RO at home if the city uses it? The difference is where it happens. At the plant, membranes treat groundwater from the Biscayne and Floridan Aquifers, then chlorine is added on purpose to keep the water disinfected in the pipes. Your kitchen RO works after that, at the point of use, so the glass you pour has passed through fresh carbon and a membrane a few feet away.
Homes east of Palm Avenue are normally served by the East plant, which uses nanofiltration; homes west of Palm Avenue by the West plant. A kitchen RO gives you a consistent result either way.
What Living Water's alkaline RO includes
- Multi-stage filtration: sediment and carbon pre-filters, the RO membrane, and a polishing stage.
- An alkaline stage that adds minerals back after the membrane.
- A dedicated faucet at the sink.
- A compact layout that fits under most kitchen sinks in houses, townhomes and apartments.
See the product page: compact alkaline RO. For specific contaminant reduction, check the exact model's NSF/ANSI 58 listing.
Good fits in Miramar
- Townhomes and apartments where a whole-home system is not practical.
- Families buying bottled water for drinking, coffee and baby formula preparation at home.
- Home offices and small gyms that want a drinking-water tap.
- Homes with a whole-home filter that want an extra step for drinking water.
Installation details to check
Before install, Jorge checks the cabinet space, the drain line, a spot on the countertop or sink deck for the faucet, and the water pressure, since RO membranes need adequate pressure to work well. If you rent, get the owner's approval first. Compare tank styles in tankless vs. tank RO.
Keeping it working
An RO system is only as good as its upkeep. Pre-filters protect the membrane from sediment and chlorine, so they are changed on a schedule; the membrane lasts longer; the alkaline cartridge is replaced on its own interval. Ask for the full schedule in writing before you buy, and see RO filter replacement cost for what to plan for.
