Step one: measure hardness
Miramar's East plant uses nanofiltration and the West plant uses nanofiltration and reverse osmosis. The city's report does not publish a hardness number, so a test at your tap is the only way to know whether a softener would earn its cost. If the result is low, Jorge will say so.
What sets the price when you do need one
- Hardness and iron levels, which set resin capacity and regeneration frequency.
- Household or business water use: a family of five and a restaurant are very different.
- Valve type: metered regeneration uses salt and water based on actual use.
- Installation: drain, power and bypass at the main line.
- Pre-filtration if the softener follows a well or a carbon filter.
Ongoing costs to ask about
- Salt or potassium use per month at your water use.
- Water used during regeneration.
- Resin life and any service visits.

Businesses in Miramar
For restaurants, gyms, laundries, car washes and offices, the price follows daily volume and the equipment being protected. Living Water installs ion-exchange softening plants for businesses, sized from a test and a review of use. Ask for a quote that lists capacity, regeneration settings and salt use.
Questions to ask before you buy a softener
- What hardness did you measure at my tap, in grains per gallon?
- How was the capacity chosen?
- How much salt and water will it use at my usage?
- Does my water need a filter instead, or as well?
If the person quoting cannot answer the first question with a measured number, the quote is not built on your water.
Space and HOA rules
Softeners need a level spot near the main line, a drain and an outlet. Many Miramar homes have the main line in the garage, which makes installation simpler. If the line enters outside, check your HOA rules on equipment and enclosures before you choose a model.
