Plant membranes vs. your membrane
Seacoast's plant is about cleaning water at the start. After treatment, the water is disinfected with chloramine, listed at 3.6 to 3.8 ppm in 2025, and pumped through Seacoast's distribution system, which serves homes and businesses across northern Palm Beach County. Then it travels through your service line and household pipes. Kitchen RO handles taste and whatever is picked up on that trip.
Seacoast's 2025 report lists 90th percentile lead at homes at 1.6 ppb, below the action level. If lead in home plumbing is a concern, a certified lab test and an RO model certified for lead reduction are the tools.
Chloramine and the pre-filter
RO membranes are sensitive to disinfectants, so a carbon pre-filter protects them. Chloramine is harder on carbon than free chlorine. With Seacoast's level steady near 3.7 ppm, ask how the model's pre-filter is rated for chloramine and how its replacement schedule reflects that.
Homes, condos and offices
- Fits inside the kitchen cabinet with no changes to main plumbing.
- Uses a dedicated faucet so you choose when to drink filtered water.
- Works in condos where whole-home equipment is not possible.
- Suits offices and break rooms as well.
Many households also run the RO line to the refrigerator or ice maker so ice and chilled water match the faucet. Ask whether that fits your kitchen.
What Living Water installs
Living Water's alkaline RO system is a multi-stage under-sink unit with a dedicated faucet for homes, offices, apartments and gyms. The alkaline stage adds minerals back after the membrane for taste. See the compact alkaline RO system and alkaline vs. standard RO.
Contaminant claims
If you want RO for a specific contaminant, the system must be certified for it under NSF/ANSI 58. Check the exact model's listing. Seacoast's report shows its water meets standards; most people install RO here for taste, convenience and to replace bottled water.
