What the system has to handle
Seacoast reports chloramine monthly, and its 2025 results ran from 3.6 to 3.8 ppm. That consistency is useful: a system sized for North Palm Beach water is sized for a known, fairly high level, not a moving target. Chloramine is chlorine bound with ammonia; it lasts longer in the pipes than free chlorine, which is why utilities use it, and it takes more contact time to remove.
Media and sizing
Plain activated carbon handles free chlorine quickly but works more slowly on chloramine, so systems for chloraminated water often use catalytic carbon and larger media beds. Sizing should consider your peak flow: several showers, a washing machine and irrigation from the same line. Ask the installer to show how the tank size relates to your home. Living Water describes its Puronics Clarius iGen and Goodspring city water systems as removing chloramine and chlorine.
No softening stage needed in most homes
Seacoast's nanofiltration demineralizes its fresh aquifer water, and RO treats the brackish deep water. Hardness that reaches your tap is far below raw groundwater levels. A whole-home system here usually focuses on chloramine and sediment, without a softener, unless your tap test says otherwise.
Pipe projects and sediment
Seacoast lists neighborhood piping replacement projects in North Palm Beach. During main work or flushing, sediment can loosen. A sediment stage ahead of the carbon protects the media and your fixtures. If you see brief discoloration, run the cold tap first and call Seacoast at 561-627-2920 if it persists.
House, townhome or condo
- Single-family home: the system goes on the main line after the meter, typically in a garage or side yard, with a bypass valve.
- Townhome: possible with your own shutoff and association approval.
- Condo: shared risers make whole-home impractical; under-sink RO handles drinking water.
Pair it with drinking water, and get a quote
A whole-home system reduces chloramine at every tap; it is not designed to lower dissolved solids. Many homes add kitchen RO. Compare whole-house filtration vs. reverse osmosis. Jorge tests chloramine, pH and hardness at your tap, looks at your space and gives you an itemized quote after the free test. Call, text or WhatsApp (305) 793-5974.
