What the report shows
The inorganic contaminants table lists fluoride at 0.15 ppm, sampled May 2023, with a maximum contaminant level of 4 ppm. The state allows some inorganic contaminants to be monitored less than once a year because their levels rarely change, so the date matters when comparing. The report does not say whether that fluoride was natural or added at the time.
Because the sample predates Florida's 2025 law, it says nothing about current practice. The next reports will include newer sampling, and the district's administration line can answer questions in the meantime. When comparing with a neighboring city, compare the same year and type of sample, since a single result from one date tells only part of the story.
Florida's 2025 law
SB 700 prohibits adding anything to a public water supply that is not for the explicit purpose of improving water quality, effective July 1, 2025, according to the Senate bill summary. Naturally occurring fluoride in the source water is separate and still appears in testing. For the USD's current practice, call 561-845-4185.
Reducing fluoride at home
- Reverse osmosis is the most common method. See under-sink RO in Riviera Beach.
- Carbon filters, pitchers and fridge filters are generally not designed for fluoride.
- Check the exact model's fluoride reduction certification, typically under NSF/ANSI 58.
The alkaline stage on Living Water's RO adds minerals for taste; it does not add fluoride.
An under-sink RO treats one faucet, which is where drinking and cooking water comes from. Reducing fluoride at every tap is rarely what people are after, and it is not something a typical whole-home carbon system does.
Other sources
Toothpaste and some bottled waters contain fluoride. If you are tracking total exposure, look at those too.
Bottled water labels or the bottler can tell you whether a brand contains fluoride. Some households that switch to RO for drinking keep fluoride toothpaste as their dentist recommends; those choices are independent of each other.
Health questions
Whether fluoride matters for your family is a question for your doctor or dentist. Jorge explains what RO does without pushing either way.
