Options compared
| Option | Good for | Check |
|---|---|---|
| Pitcher | Renters, light use | Listing for chloramine and, if wanted, PFOA/PFOS |
| Fridge filter | Convenience | Same; small cartridge |
| Under-sink alkaline RO | Daily drinking and cooking | NSF/ANSI 58 listing for your concerns |
| Whole-home filter | Every tap and shower | Chloramine listing; pair with RO for drinking |
Whatever you choose, the certification listing for the exact model is what tells you what it reduces. Packaging claims and marketing names are not the same thing. Pitchers and fridge cartridges also need replacing more often than RO prefilters, so count those changes when you compare.
What matters on Tequesta water
- Chloramine most of the year, with a yearly free-chlorine period.
- Moderate hardness of about 100 to 120 mg/L.
- No added fluoride.
- Published PFAS results; see PFAS in Tequesta.
Lead and copper results were low in the Village's sampling, but your fixtures and older home plumbing are not covered by those numbers. If lead from plumbing concerns you, the Village's report recommends a filter certified by an ANSI-accredited certifier to reduce lead.
How to choose
- Decide whether you want better drinking water or every tap.
- List the contaminants you care about, then check each model's certification for them.
- Count the upkeep and who does it.
- Test first.
We do not claim Living Water's systems remove PFAS; check any model's listing.
Questions for any seller: what is this exact model certified for, how often are filters changed, where does the faucet go, and what happens if there is a leak.
Living Water's options
Alkaline RO for drinking water and the city water system for the whole home. See RO cost drivers.
Most Tequesta households who want both pair the two: the whole-home system for showers and laundry, RO in the kitchen for drinking and cooking.
Households, condos and offices
A single seasonal resident, a family and a small office use very different volumes. Size the system to real use. In condos, under-sink RO avoids main-line changes. Offices can replace bottle deliveries with a dedicated faucet.
For seasonal homes, ask how the system should be handled when the house is empty for months; RO filters and tanks may need flushing or replacement on return.
