Why RO is the condo answer
In an Aventura tower, the plumbing from the street to your unit belongs to the association. You cannot usually add a point-of-entry system to it. What you do control is the space under your kitchen sink. An under-sink RO connects to the cold-water line there, sends a small waste stream to the sink drain, and feeds its own faucet on the counter. It is self-contained, which makes it easy to explain to building management and easy to take with you if you move.
A local twist: some of your water is already RO
NMB Water's Norwood plant treats brackish Floridan Aquifer water with reverse osmosis, then blends it with Biscayne Aquifer water treated by lime softening or nanofiltration. So part of what reaches Aventura was membrane-treated at the plant. After treatment, the utility adds a chloramine residual for disinfection, and the water travels through miles of mains plus your building's tanks, pumps and risers. An under-sink RO polishes the water at the last step: the glass you actually drink from.
How a multi-stage alkaline RO works
- Sediment pre-filter catches particles from building plumbing.
- Carbon pre-filters reduce chlorine and chloramine to protect the membrane.
- RO membrane reduces dissolved solids.
- Post-filter and remineralization polish taste and add minerals back, raising pH.
- Dedicated faucet on the counter.

Upkeep
Pre-filters, post-filters, the remineralization cartridge and the membrane each have their own replacement schedule, depending on your water and how much you use.
