What you are treating
The Village buys treated water from Miami-Dade County and distributes it. Its 2025 data sheet lists chloramines at 2.5 ppm for Bal Harbour Village, with a range from not detected to 4.0. Chloramine is the reason most homeowners consider whole-home treatment: a faint pool smell in the shower and taste in the kitchen. The water meets standards; filtration is about comfort and preference.
Separate irrigation makes sizing easier
Bal Harbour offers irrigation service on its own meter, which must have a certified backflow preventer. If your landscape runs on an irrigation meter, the domestic line feeding the house carries only indoor use, which is exactly what a whole-home system should treat. Your monthly domestic meter readings show real household use, which helps size the system and estimate media life.

What Living Water installs
Living Water's city water systems use Puronics Clarius iGen and Goodspring equipment, which Living Water describes as removing chloramine and chlorine. See the city water system. Chloramine needs more contact time with media than free chlorine, so the system is sized to your peak flow: number of bathrooms, simultaneous showers, and fixtures like rain heads and body sprays that use a lot of water at once.
Installation notes for the Village
- Choose a shaded or enclosed location; salt air and sun are hard on exposed equipment.
- Keep equipment accessible and secured for storm season.
- Install a bypass valve so the house keeps water during service.
- Plan a drain for systems that backwash.
- Leave the Village meter box and backflow devices alone; they are not part of your system.
The Village notes that leaks on private property are the owner's responsibility, so ask your installer how connections are tested before they leave.
Add drinking water at the sink
Whole-home filtration handles chloramine at every tap; under-sink alkaline RO lowers dissolved solids for drinking and cooking. Compare them in whole-house filtration vs. RO.
