Why test your tap
Boynton Beach blends water from two plants and, in the dry season, from stored ASR water. The 2025 report shows disinfectant results from 0.02 to 5.2 ppm across the system. Your tap reflects your location, your plumbing and the time of year. A tap test shows what you are actually drinking and showering in.
What Jorge measures
| Test | Why it matters in Boynton |
|---|---|
| Chloramine and chlorine | Chloramine most of the year; free chlorine during maintenance |
| Hardness | Shows whether plant softening makes a home softener unnecessary |
| Total dissolved solids | Guides RO decisions; sodium is 43.2 ppm in the report |
| pH | Taste and plumbing |
| Iron | Stains, especially with an irrigation well |
Reading the 2025 report
- Lead 90th percentile 4.4 ppb, copper 0.13 ppm (August 2025); action level not exceeded, though two sampling sites were above the lead action level.
- TTHM 24.1 ppb, HAA5 17.9 ppb.
- Fluoride averaged 0.12 ppm.
- Unregulated PFAS monitoring results are listed; see PFAS in Boynton Beach.
The city reports no lead service lines, based on records, visual field inspections of over 30% of its infrastructure and modeling, and offers an address lookup at boyntonbeachserviceline.com. Lead can still come from home plumbing, which is why the report suggests flushing taps and using a certified filter if you are concerned.
When a certified lab is better
- Lead: the report says to call Boynton Beach's water quality staff at 561-742-6964 if you want lead testing.
- Private wells: bacteria and nitrate need a certified lab; DOH-Palm Beach runs an environmental lab in West Palm Beach.
- PFAS: certified lab using EPA methods.

Timing tip
If you test during a chlorine maintenance period, the disinfectant reading reflects free chlorine, not the usual chloramine. Jorge notes which is present so your results are read correctly. Bring a few notes to the visit, too: which taps bother you, whether it is worse in the morning or after time away, whether your sprinklers run on a well, and the age of your water heater. Those details often explain a complaint faster than any single number.
What the visit looks like
Jorge tests at your kitchen tap and anywhere you have a concern, explains each number, and answers questions. If nothing needs fixing, he says so. If something fits, you get an itemized quote and time to think it over. See what happens during a home water assessment. Call, text or WhatsApp (305) 793-5974.
