The facts
- The 2025 report: "Low levels of Fluoride were added to the treated drinking water, however this was discontinued per State of Florida Legislature on July 1st, 2025."
- The inorganic table lists fluoride at 0.62 ppm (August 2023 sampling) against an MCL of 4.
- Florida Senate Bill 700, Chapter 2025-22, effective July 1, 2025, bars adding fluoride and similar additives to public water.
- The report lists erosion of natural deposits among fluoride's sources.
No position on fluoride
We explain what's in the water and what equipment does. We don't argue for or against fluoride. Health questions belong with your dentist or doctor.
Methods compared
| Method | Fluoride? |
|---|---|
| Reverse osmosis | Common method; check the model's certification |
| Activated carbon | Generally not designed for fluoride |
| Whole-home chloramine system | Not a fluoride solution |
The plant already uses membranes
Part of Deerfield Beach's supply passes through nanofiltration and reverse osmosis before blending. The report doesn't give fluoride figures by process, so the blended number is the one that applies to your tap. For the most current figure after the July 2025 change, ask the Environmental Compliance Superintendent at 954-480-4370 or watch for the next report.
Future Water Quality Reports will show fluoride results from after the July 2025 change, which will tell you the natural level in the blended water.
At home
People who want less fluoride usually treat only drinking and cooking water, with RO at the kitchen sink and sometimes the fridge line. Look for NSF/ANSI 58 certification listing fluoride for the exact model, and replace filters on schedule. See under-sink RO and RO cost.
An alkaline stage after the membrane adds minerals back for taste. If a seller can't show you a fluoride listing for the model, treat the claim as unverified.
A note for families who used fluoridated water
If your household relied on fluoridated tap water before July 2025, the change in state law is worth mentioning at your next dental visit; your dentist can tell you whether anything should change for your family. That's a health question, and it belongs with them, not with a water treatment company.
Testing
A lab measures fluoride precisely. Jorge's free test covers chloramine, hardness, TDS, pH and iron, and he'll show you where fluoride appears in the report. Call, text or WhatsApp (305) 793-5974.
