Start with WASD's report, then test your tap
WASD publishes an annual Water Quality Report (Consumer Confidence Report) on miamidade.gov. For Kendall, the useful parts are the main-system results, the description of the Alexander Orr, Jr. plant that serves areas south of SW 8 Street, and the disinfectant results for chloramine.
The report describes water leaving the system. Your tap can differ because of your home's pipes, your water heater and any equipment already installed. That is why the test happens at your faucet.
What the in-home screen looks at
- Hardness, to see whether scale is a real issue after Orr's lime softening.
- Chlorine and chloramine, which shape taste and odor.
- Total dissolved solids (TDS), a general indicator often used to compare tap water with RO water.
- pH.
- Iron and odor, especially on well or irrigation water.
Jorge explains what each reading means for comfort, taste and equipment. He does not tell you your water is safe or unsafe; that is not what a home screen is for.
When you need a certified lab instead
For bacteria, nitrate, lead, PFAS or other specific contaminants, use a state-certified laboratory. The Florida Department of Health says private well owners are responsible for their own well water and recommends testing for bacteria and nitrate at least once a year, plus coliform bacteria, nitrate and lead when a home is bought or sold. Read home screening vs. lab analysis.
City water or well? How to tell in Kendall
Check your bill: a Miami-Dade Water and Sewer bill means county water. Miami-Dade also offers a Connection Finder map tool that shows water and sewer service for a property, and publishes an open-data list of properties potentially served by septic or private wells. Some Kendall homes are on county water inside but water the lawn from an irrigation well, so Jorge may test both.
What happens on the visit
- Call, text or WhatsApp (305) 793-5974 to pick a time.
- Jorge tests at your kitchen tap and, if relevant, an outside spigot or well.
- He walks you through each result.
- If a system fits, you get an itemized quote. If not, he tells you.
