The four things that set the price
- What the test finds. WASD water in Kendall arrives treated and disinfected with chloramine. If taste and odor are the only issues, the job is simpler than for a home with high hardness or a well.
- System type and size. Under-sink RO, whole-home filtration, a softener or a well system are different equipment and different labor. Whole-home systems are sized to your household's flow.
- Installation conditions. Where the main line enters, access, drains, electrical and whether plumbing needs rerouting.
- Ongoing upkeep. Filter and media changes, salt for softeners, membrane changes for RO.
Kendall details that change a quote
- Separate irrigation lines or wells. If sprinklers run off a private well, rust stains will not be solved by an indoor filter, and you avoid paying to filter lawn water.
- Townhome and condo rules. Association limits can steer you toward under-sink RO.
- Older homes. Some Kendall houses date from the area's earlier decades; older plumbing can add fittings or labor.
- Two goals at once. Many households want both whole-home and drinking water treatment. Ask for each part to be priced separately.

Questions to ask about upkeep before you sign
The purchase is only part of what you will spend. Before you compare totals, ask each company:
- How often each filter, cartridge or membrane is changed for a household like yours on WASD water.
- Whether service visits are included, and for how long.
- For softeners, how much salt the system uses and how often it regenerates.
- What happens if the system is not maintained on schedule.
See the annual cost of owning a whole-home filter for the full list of ownership questions.
