Why households here choose whole-home
Lantana's plant treats shallow aquifer water with aeration, chloramine disinfection and filtration, then adds zinc orthophosphate to protect pipes. The chloramine is there on purpose, to keep the water protected all the way to your meter. Whole-home filtration takes it out after the meter, so showers, laundry and every faucet lose the pool-like smell.
The motivation is comfort and taste. The town's water is treated to meet standards; a whole-home system is about how it feels and smells in daily use.
What the system has to handle
- Chloramine at a fairly high residual: the 2025 samples ranged from 3.0 to 4.7 ppm, so capacity and contact time matter. See choosing a filter for chloramine.
- Flow: the system must keep up with several fixtures at once without a pressure drop.
- Corrosion control: ask how the system interacts with the town's orthophosphate treatment; filtering after the meter does not change what protects the town's mains.
Fitting one into a Lantana home
The system goes on the main line after the meter, with a bypass valve. In many Lantana homes that means a spot outside near the hose bib or in the garage. Near the water, salt air is hard on exposed fittings, so placement and protection from the elements are part of the plan. Jorge looks at where the line enters, available space and any drain or outlet needs before recommending a model.
Condos and waterfront buildings
Condo owners usually cannot add main-line equipment. For them, under-sink RO is the practical choice, with carbon stages that handle chloramine at the kitchen tap. Check your association's rules before any installation.
Make sure you are on Town water
The town serves its incorporated area, roughly east of I-95 and north of Hypoluxo Road to about a mile north of Lantana Road. If your bill comes from Lake Worth Beach or another utility, the water is different, and Jorge works from that utility's report. Lake Worth Beach also uses chloramine, so the equipment type often stays the same, but sizing follows the actual test.
Pairing with drinking water
A whole-home system improves water everywhere but does not lower dissolved solids the way RO does. Many families add an alkaline RO under the kitchen sink. Compare in whole-house filtration vs. RO.

Jorge measures chloramine, pH, hardness and dissolved solids at your tap and gives you an itemized quote only if a system fits.
