Your water is already partly softened
NMB Water's Norwood plant treats Biscayne Aquifer water by lime softening and/or nanofiltration and treats deep Floridan Aquifer water by reverse osmosis, then blends them. WASD's Hialeah plant uses lime treatment to reduce hardness, and its Preston plant uses an enhanced softening process. That is why a softener is not automatic here, unlike in some areas with untreated hard well water.
Neither utility's report publishes a single household hardness number for Miami Gardens, so the honest answer comes from testing your own tap.
When a softener does make sense
- Test results show hardness high enough to leave scale on fixtures and inside the water heater.
- You use a private well, where water skips utility treatment entirely.
- You run a business such as a restaurant, laundry, car wash, salon or gym, where scale costs money in equipment repairs and wasted energy.
- You see persistent white spots and crust even after cleaning; see hard water spots in Miami Gardens.
How ion-exchange softening works
Living Water's softening plants use ion exchange: water passes through resin that swaps hardness minerals (calcium and magnesium) for sodium or potassium. The resin regenerates automatically with salt. It addresses hardness and scale; it is not a filter for chloramine taste, which is why some homes combine a softener with whole-home filtration.
Softener, filter or both?
| What the test shows | Likely fit |
|---|---|
| Chloramine taste and odor, low hardness | Whole-home filtration only |
| Noticeable hardness, little taste complaint | Softener |
| Both | Filtration plus softener |
| Well water with iron or sulfur | Well system configured from the test |

Businesses in Miami Gardens
Restaurants along NW 27 Avenue and NW 183 Street, salons, laundromats and gyms run water through heaters, dishwashers and machines all day. Scale inside that equipment raises energy use and repair calls. A commercial softener is sized to daily water volume and the equipment it protects. Jorge can test at the business, just as he does at homes.
Price and booking
There is no one price for a softener; it depends on size, regeneration setup and installation. See what drives softener cost in Miami Gardens. Book a free test by call, text or WhatsApp at (305) 793-5974.
