PALM BEACH · FLUORIDE FILTER

Fluoride Water Filter in Palm Beach

The water report that covers the Town of Palm Beach, from the City of West Palm Beach, lists fluoride at 0.61 ppm from a January 2025 sample, below the 4 ppm limit. That sample predates Florida's law, effective July 1, 2025, prohibiting additives in public water that are not for improving water quality. If you want to reduce fluoride at home, reverse osmosis is the common method; check the exact model's certification. This page takes no side on fluoride and health.

What the reports show

  • 2025 report: fluoride 0.61 ppm, sampled January 2025.
  • 2024 report: fluoride 0.089 ppm, sampled January 2024.

Two single samples a year apart can differ for many reasons. For current practice, call West Palm Beach Public Utilities, which the Town's website lists at 561-822-1300, or watch the next report at wpb.org/WaterReport.

Both samples were taken before the 2025 law took effect, so neither tells you the current practice. The 2025 report, published in June 2026, is the latest at the time of writing.

Florida's 2025 law

SB 700 prohibits adding anything to a public water supply that is not for the explicit purpose of improving water quality, effective July 1, 2025, according to the Senate bill summary. Fluoride added for dental health falls under that rule. Naturally occurring fluoride is separate and still appears in testing.

Because the Town of Palm Beach buys its water from West Palm Beach, the city's practice is what applies on the island. The Town does not treat drinking water itself.

Reducing fluoride at home

  • Reverse osmosis is the most common household method. See under-sink RO in Palm Beach.
  • Carbon filters, pitchers, fridge filters and whole-home carbon systems are generally not designed for fluoride.
  • Check the exact model's fluoride reduction certification, typically under NSF/ANSI 58.

The alkaline stage on Living Water's RO adds minerals for taste; it does not add fluoride.

An RO treats the faucet it is installed at, which is where drinking and cooking water comes from. Households who care about fluoride for drinking usually place RO at the kitchen and, if used often, the bar. A unit with a fridge line extends that to chilled water and ice.

Other sources

Toothpaste and some bottled and delivered waters contain fluoride; labels or the supplier can confirm. If you are tracking total exposure, include those.

Delivered water services can tell you whether their water contains fluoride; some offer both versions.

Health questions

Whether fluoride matters for your family is a question for your doctor or dentist. Jorge shows what RO does without pushing either way.
