PINECREST · FLUORIDE

Fluoride Water Filter in Pinecrest

Pinecrest homes on WASD water no longer receive added fluoride: the Orr plant and WASD's other main plants stopped adding it as of June 6, 2025, and natural levels since then run about 0.1 to 0.3 ppm. Homes on private wells have whatever is naturally in their groundwater. If you want to reduce fluoride in drinking water, reverse osmosis is a common method; check that the exact model is certified for fluoride.

What changed

WASD's 2025 Water Quality Report says the Alexander Orr, Jr., John E. Preston and Hialeah plants discontinued adding fluoride as of June 6, 2025, under County Resolution R-370-25 (approved May 6, 2025) and Florida Senate Bill 700 (effective July 1, 2025). WASD says this does not significantly affect treatment or compliance with standards. Fluoride's maximum contaminant level remains 4 ppm.

The report's 2025 table shows a wider range because it includes readings from before fluoridation stopped. The post-June figure in the footnote is what is in the water now.

Where to lookWASD's annual reportA certified lab; fluoride is not on the Village's routine well list

Living Water takes no position on fluoride and gives no health advice about it; ask your dentist or doctor.

How fluoride is reduced

  • Reverse osmosis at the drinking tap, with an NSF/ANSI 58 listing that includes fluoride.
  • Most carbon filters, pitchers and fridge filters are not designed for fluoride.
  • Whole-house reduction is uncommon.

See under-sink RO in Pinecrest.

If you want fluoride reduced only in drinking and cooking water, one RO at the kitchen sink is usually enough; showers and laundry are not where most people want to treat for it.

On a well

A well RO needs pretreatment for iron and hardness to protect the membrane, and the Village recommends regular lab testing for coliform bacteria, nitrates, TDS and pH regardless. Add fluoride to the lab request if you want the number. See well water in Pinecrest.

Many well owners have never seen a fluoride number for their water, because the routine tests focus on bacteria, nitrate, TDS and pH. Adding it to the lab request is usually a simple step.

Before you buy

  • Is the exact model certified for fluoride reduction?
  • Filter and membrane schedule?
  • How will it change TDS and pH?

Jorge tests TDS and pH and explains the effect of RO. Call, text or WhatsApp Jorge at (305) 793-5974.

If fluoride is not a concern for you, nothing on this page requires action. If it is, one certified RO at the kitchen sink is usually the whole answer, and Jorge can show you the TDS change at your own faucet.
