On a private well
A well-water whole-home system is built from the test, in the order the water needs:
- Iron and sulfur stage: oxidation and filtration or catalytic media, so the next stages are not fouled.
- Softening: ion exchange for the hardness typical of Biscayne Aquifer water.
- Additional stages: only if a lab test finds something specific, using equipment certified for it.
- Drinking water: often under-sink RO at the kitchen.
Living Water configures these from Puronics equipment; see the well water system.
Every stage has upkeep, so the goal is the fewest stages that solve what the test shows, not the longest list.
On City of Sunrise water
Sunrise softens its water at the plant and disinfects with chloramine, chlorine combined with ammonia. Its 2025 reports list highest running annual averages of 3.3 to 3.5 ppm. That residual is what people notice in showers. Living Water installs Puronics Clarius iGen and Goodspring city water systems, which it describes as removing chloramine and chlorine. See chloramine filters.
Large lots, long runs
Southwest Ranches properties sit on at least one acre, and many have barns, guest houses or pool houses fed from the same well. Before sizing, Jorge looks at:
- Which buildings and lines the system should serve, and which (irrigation, stalls) should stay separate.
- Well pump flow and pressure tank size, which limit what treatment can handle.
- Where the equipment can sit, with power and a drain for backwashing or regeneration.
Older properties may also have equipment from a previous owner. Jorge checks whether it is still working, what it was meant to treat, and whether it can be kept as one of the stages.
Separate the house from the land
Treating irrigation and barn water to the same level as the house is usually unnecessary and expensive. A common split: full treatment on the house line, an iron filter only on irrigation that stains, and untreated water where staining does not matter. See orange stains in Southwest Ranches.
Keep it working
- Re-test the well regularly; Florida DOH recommends bacteria and nitrate at least yearly.
- Keep to the media, resin and filter schedule for each stage.
- Re-test after hurricanes, flooding or work on the well or septic system.
