What the Village says
The FAQ answers two questions directly. Does the Village add fluoride? No. Do I need a fluoride supplement? The Village says the trace amount is considered inadequate for dental protection, that individuals must provide their own supplements if they want them, and that you should consult your dentist.
We take no position for or against fluoride; these are the Village's published facts.

Reducing fluoride at home
- Reverse osmosis: a common reduction method at one tap. See under-sink RO in Tequesta.
- Carbon filters: standard carbon is generally not designed for fluoride.
- Certification: look for an NSF/ANSI 58 listing that includes fluoride for the exact model.
RO also reduces other dissolved minerals, which is why Living Water's alkaline RO units add minerals back after the membrane for taste. Ask what the alkaline stage adds and how often it is replaced.
Is it worth it at 0.030 mg/L?
That is your call. With natural fluoride already near non-detectable, most Tequesta households who install RO do it for taste, chloramine and dissolved solids rather than fluoride. Some also look at RO models certified for PFOA and PFOS; see PFAS filters in Tequesta.
If you are comparing utilities after a move, note that fluoride status varies across South Florida. Some utilities added fluoride until Florida's 2025 law changed that; Tequesta's FAQ says the Village does not add it. Check your own utility's report rather than assuming.
Whole-home systems
Whole-home city water systems are designed for chlorine and chloramine, not fluoride. If anyone offers whole-home fluoride removal, ask for the certification listing and capacity at your water use.
A whole-home chloramine system and an under-sink RO unit are often installed together: the first for showers and laundry, the second for drinking and cooking. Fluoride reduction, if you want it, comes from the RO side.
Private wells
Natural fluoride in a private well varies. A certified lab can measure it if you want a number.
If you drink from a well, test for bacteria and nitrate first, as the Florida Department of Health recommends; fluoride is a secondary question.
Next steps
Jorge tests TDS before and after RO so you can see what the membrane changes. Call, text or WhatsApp (305) 793-5974.
If you want to read the source yourself, the Village's FAQ page under Water Utilities answers the fluoride and supplement questions directly, and the annual report on the Utilities page lists the other inorganic results. Jorge can go through both with you at the kitchen table.
