What Tequesta's water brings to the house
The Village's 2025 report lists chloramine at a 2.32 ppm highest running annual average, with individual readings from 0.6 to 3.8 ppm. That wider range means some days your tap carries a lot more disinfectant than others. The Village also switches to free chlorine once a year for a distribution system purge, so the taste can change for a period even if nothing at your house has.
Average hardness is about 100 to 120 mg/L according to the Village, so a whole-home filter will meet some mineral content too. A carbon-based filter does not soften; if scale is your complaint, test hardness separately.
What a whole-home system does and does not do
- Reduces chlorine and chloramine taste and odor at every tap.
- Gives consistent water whether the plant is in its chloramine or free-chlorine period.
- Does not soften water or remove fluoride.
- Is not a PFAS treatment unless the specific model is certified for it; we make no PFAS claim for our systems.
For drinking water, many families add under-sink RO in the kitchen.
Fitting a system in Tequesta homes
Jorge checks where the main line enters, available space, a nearby drain and outlet, and whether irrigation lines branch off before the house. In waterfront homes, equipment placement also considers garage flood risk and salt air, so the system is not sitting at the lowest point of the property.
Most Tequesta single-family homes have room near the main line in a garage or side yard. Jorge also asks how many bathrooms are used daily, because flow rate sets the system size, and whether you want outdoor spigots left unfiltered so the system is not treating lawn water.
Water main projects and your system
The Village is replacing water mains on Tequesta Drive and Beach Road. Main work and annual hydrant testing can stir up sediment for a short time. A whole-home system usually includes a sediment stage; if work is happening on your street, ask how to bypass the system during flushing and when to check the prefilter.
Ownership questions
- How often is the media serviced or replaced at my household's use?
- Does the system need a drain?
- What is covered by the warranty, in writing?
See filtration cost in Tequesta and the ownership cost guide.
