What changed in 2025

Hollywood's fluoridation page says Florida's governor signed SB 700 on May 15, 2025, banning the addition of fluoride and other health additives to public drinking water effective July 1, and that the city's fluoridation equipment will be repurposed. Hollywood's own 2025 report still describes fluoridation in its treatment summary, but its table shows 0.12 ppm in July 2025, the same figure the county lists for 3BC.

Ways to reduce fluoride

• Reverse osmosis is a common method for drinking and cooking water. See under-sink RO.
• Standard carbon filters generally do not target fluoride.
• Check that the exact model's certification lists fluoride.

RO makes water more slowly than a regular faucet and sends some water to drain, so consider your household's daily drinking and cooking volume. Distillation and certain specialty media are other methods people use; whichever you consider, check the certification for fluoride on the exact model.

A neutral note

This page does not argue for or against fluoride. For questions about dental health, Hollywood's page suggests consulting your healthcare provider about options such as toothpaste or supplements. Jorge only explains water treatment options.

• Is this exact model certified for fluoride reduction?
• How much water does it make per day?
• Which stages need replacing to keep that performance, and how often?

Why your report may say two things

Annual reports cover a whole year. Hollywood's 2025 report describes its treatment process including fluoridation, because fluoride was added during the first half of that year, while its fluoride page says use ended as of July 1, 2025. Broward County's table lists the 3BC result over the sampling period shown. The 2026 reports will reflect a full year without added fluoride.
