Why RO works well with Weston water
Weston's water is membrane-softened at Sunrise's Sawgrass plant and disinfected with chloramines, listed at a highest annual average of 3.2 ppm in the 2025 report. That means your kitchen RO is not fighting heavy hardness. Its two main jobs are dealing with the chloramine before it reaches the membrane, and polishing what is left after the water has traveled through city mains and your home's pipes.
Pre-filters matter more with chloramine
RO membranes are sensitive to chlorine-based disinfectants, and chloramine is harder for ordinary carbon to remove than free chlorine. A well-designed system for Weston uses carbon stages chosen for chloramine and changed on schedule. If you also have a whole-home chloramine filter, the RO pre-filters see less load.
What Living Water's alkaline RO includes
- Sediment and carbon pre-filtration.
- A reverse osmosis membrane.
- An alkaline stage that adds minerals back after the membrane, for taste.
- A dedicated faucet at the sink.
Product details: compact alkaline RO. For any contaminant reduction, check the exact model's NSF/ANSI 58 listing. Compare styles in alkaline vs. standard RO.
Before install: a quick kitchen check
- Cabinet space for the unit and any tank, alongside disposals and pull-out trash bins common in newer Weston kitchens.
- Faucet location on the sink deck or countertop; stone countertops may need drilling.
- Drain connection for the RO's reject water.
- Fridge line, if you want RO water for ice and the dispenser.
- Water pressure, which affects how fast the system produces water.
Upkeep
Pre-filters and post-filters are changed on a schedule, the membrane less often, and the alkaline cartridge on its own interval. Ask for the full schedule in writing. See RO maintenance and operating costs.
RO for home offices and gyms
If you run a home office or a small home gym, a second compact RO at a wet bar or utility sink is sometimes simpler than carrying water across the house. Living Water's under-sink systems are designed for homes, offices, apartments and gyms, so the same unit fits those spaces. The same checks apply: cabinet room, a drain connection and enough pressure.
