The Weston factor: chloramine
Weston's water carries chloramine, with a highest annual average of 3.2 ppm in the 2025 report. RO membranes need to be protected from chlorine-based disinfectants, and chloramine is harder for ordinary carbon to remove. Ask any installer which carbon stage is used for chloramine and how often it is replaced. A cheaper cartridge that needs replacing more often can cost more over time.
