Why test at your tap in Aventura
In a high-rise, water passes from the utility main through the building's own tanks, pumps and risers before it reaches your unit. Water heaters, fixtures and how long water sits in the pipes all play a part. A test at your tap captures that last stretch, which no utility report can.
What the in-home test covers
- Total chlorine, which includes chloramine, NMB Water's disinfectant.
- Hardness, behind spots and scale.
- Iron, which can show up from older building plumbing or a water heater.
- Total dissolved solids.
- pH.
The home water assessment guide walks through the visit.
Reading NMB Water's report
NMB Water's 2025 Water Quality Report says the utility collected more than 2,580 samples and ran more than 66,000 tests in its state-certified laboratory that year. The data table lists disinfectant, disinfection byproducts, metals, lead and copper at the tap, and radioactive contaminants, and a separate table covers newly regulated PFAS. It also notes that NMB completed a service line inventory in 2025 and found no lead service lines in its system; the plumbing inside your building is separate from that. Bring the report, or ask your management office for it, and Jorge will explain how your tap results relate.
If your building is served by Miami-Dade WASD instead, its report is on miamidade.gov under Water Quality Reports.
When a certified lab is the better tool
An in-home screening is not a certified laboratory analysis. For specific concerns such as lead in your unit's plumbing, PFAS or bacteria, a certified lab test is the right tool. NMB Water's report suggests that anyone concerned about lead flush the tap before using water for drinking or cooking, and consider a filter certified to reduce lead. The screening vs. lab guide explains the difference.
What you get afterward
Jorge writes down the numbers and explains each one in terms of what you notice: the pool-like smell, spots on glass, a metallic taste. If your water looks fine, you hear that plainly. If something is worth addressing, he outlines options sized to your unit or house, and an itemized quote follows that you can review in your own time.
Good times to test
- After moving into a new unit or buying a home with existing equipment.
- When returning after months away, once you have run the taps.
- When you notice a change in taste, smell or color.
- Before buying any treatment system.

Call, text or WhatsApp Jorge at (305) 793-5974. Let him know your building's visitor and parking procedures. There is no obligation, and if your water does not need a system, he will say so.
