Reading the number
The report's table lists fluoride's likely sources as erosion of natural deposits, discharge from fertilizer and aluminum factories, and a water additive that promotes strong teeth at the optimum level of 0.7 ppm. That is standard wording in Florida reports. Boynton's 2025 average of 0.12 ppm is well below that 0.7 ppm reference level. For the city's current practice, call the water quality lab at 561-742-6964.
Florida's 2025 law
The Florida Senate's summary of CS/CS/CS/SB 700 says the bill prohibits the use of any additive to a public water supply that is not for the explicit purpose of improving water quality, effective July 1, 2025. Natural fluoride in groundwater is still measured and reported.
Neutral on fluoride
Living Waters does not take a side. Some people want fluoride and some want less. With levels already low in Boynton's 2025 report, many residents may decide no fluoride-specific equipment is needed. This page is for those who want to reduce it further.
- Reverse osmosis is the common method. See under-sink RO in Boynton Beach.
- Activated alumina is another fluoride media.
- Standard carbon, including most pitchers and fridge filters, is not designed for fluoride.
Certification
For RO, look for NSF/ANSI 58 certification that lists fluoride reduction, and confirm the exact model on the certifier's listing. In Boynton, also confirm the carbon prefilter suits chloramine so the membrane stays protected. Compare carbon vs. RO.
What else RO changes
RO reduces many dissolved solids together, including the 43.2 ppm of sodium in the city's report. Many people choosing RO notice the taste change more than anything else. An alkaline stage adds minerals back for taste. RO is also the route many households consider for other dissolved substances listed in the report; for any specific contaminant, the exact model's NSF/ANSI 58 listing is what counts. If you only want the disinfectant taste gone and are comfortable with the low fluoride level, a chloramine-rated carbon filter is the simpler choice.

A certified lab measures fluoride precisely. Jorge's free test covers dissolved solids, disinfectant, hardness and pH, and he can show what RO changes at your tap. Questions about fluoride and health belong with your dentist or doctor. Call, text or WhatsApp (305) 793-5974.
