COCONUT CREEK · WHOLE-HOME

Whole-Home Water Filtration in Coconut Creek

A whole-home system treats water where it enters your house, so every faucet, shower and appliance gets filtered water. Whether your Coconut Creek home gets Broward County District 2A water or City of Margate water, it arrives disinfected with chloramine, which needs media designed for it. Living Water installs Puronics Clarius iGen and Goodspring systems, which Living Water describes as removing chloramine and chlorine, after a free test by Jorge.

Why chloramine is the main target here

Coconut Creek's 2025 report lists chloramine results from 1.77 to 4.26 ppm across the year's monthly sampling. Margate, which serves the area south of Coconut Creek Parkway, also uses chloramine. That residual protects water on its long trip from the County plant in Pompano Beach through the city's roughly 286 miles of pipe. At home, it is what many people notice as a pool smell in the shower or a taste in coffee.

What the County already removed

Broward County softens the water with lime and ferric chloride to reduce hardness and color, then filters it. So a whole-home system on Coconut Creek city water is mainly a chloramine and taste system. It does not need to be a heavy iron filter or a large softener, and a fair quote should reflect that.

Sizing in Coconut Creek homes

  • Bathrooms and occupants set peak flow, which sets tank size and contact time.
  • Main line size and location, usually near the front hose bib or in the garage.
  • Community rules: many Coconut Creek homes are in HOA communities; outdoor equipment placement may need to follow association guidelines.
  • Condos: often better served by under-sink RO.

Equipment

Living Water uses Puronics equipment, from a water treatment manufacturer since 1947, with a bypass valve so the house keeps water during service. See the city water system page.

What a whole-home filter does not do

It is not a softener, and it is not certified for every contaminant. If you are concerned about a specific contaminant, such as lead from older fixtures or PFAS, check that the exact model is certified for it; most certified options for those are drinking water systems. See PFAS filters.

Discolored water and your filter

Coconut Creek runs hydrant flushing when its testing shows a main needs it. The city says discolored water after flushing is not a health hazard and usually clears after running cold water. A sediment pre-filter ahead of the main media tank helps protect it from those episodes.

Start with a test

Jorge measures chloramine, hardness, TDS and pH at your tap and checks your main line. If whole-home fits, you get an itemized quote; if not, he tells you what will. Living Water offers financing through its financing partners; you apply with a credit application, and a co-applicant can apply with you. Call, text or WhatsApp (305) 793-5974.

Chloramine needs media made for it. Living Water describes its Puronics city water systems as removing chloramine and chlorine; Jorge tests before and after.

Is it different for homes on Margate water?

The approach is the same; both use chloramine.

Do I need a softener too?

Usually not on city water; the County softens it. Test first.

Can my HOA restrict the installation?

Some associations have rules for outdoor equipment. Check before installing.

How long does installation take?

Most installs are done in a day.
