What changed in 2025
The Florida Senate's summary of the 2025 law says it prohibits the use of any additive to a public water supply that is not for the explicit purpose of improving water quality, effective July 1, 2025. The City of Hollywood, which serves part of Dania Beach, says on its fluoridation page that its fluoride use ended as of July 1, 2025.
Note that the City of Dania Beach's 2025 report text still describes fluoride being added as part of treatment. Annual reports reuse standard wording, and the law applies to all public water systems. If you want confirmation for your address, ask your utility directly.
Natural fluoride
Ending added fluoride does not make water fluoride-free. Fluoride occurs naturally in groundwater at low levels, and utilities still test for it and report it. Check the newest report for your utility to see the current figure.
How fluoride is reduced at home
- Reverse osmosis: the most common home method, at a single tap. See under-sink RO in Dania Beach.
- Activated alumina: another media used for fluoride.
- Standard carbon filters: generally not designed for fluoride.
For any claim, check the exact model's certification listing for fluoride reduction.
A neutral note
We do not take a position on fluoride for or against. This page sticks to what the law and the utilities say and how home filtration works. Questions about fluoride and your health belong with your doctor or dentist.
Which utility report to read
Dania Beach is served by three utilities, so the fluoride figure that applies to you depends on your address. The City of Dania Beach, Broward County and the City of Hollywood each publish an annual Water Quality Report. Reports issued in 2026 cover testing in 2025, so some samples may predate the July 1 change. Look at the sample dates in the table, and expect the next report to reflect a full year without added fluoride.
Whole-home vs. one tap
Most people who want less fluoride care about drinking and cooking water, so a single RO faucet in the kitchen is the usual answer. Whole-home fluoride reduction is uncommon and harder to do well. If you also want disinfectant gone from the showers, that is a separate whole-home filtration decision.
