Start with the right water
A quote is only as good as the water it is based on. Dania Beach properties are served by the city, Broward County or Hollywood, and the city's own report lists a chlorine residual while the other two use chloramines. A system specified for the wrong water can be undersized or overbuilt. Confirm your provider on the city's Utility Service Area Map or your bill, then have the water tested.
What drives the price
- System type: under-sink RO, whole-home filtration, a softener, well treatment, or a combination.
- Size: bathrooms, people and peak flow decide how much media a whole-home system needs.
- Installation: where the main line enters, available space, drain access, and whether a condo association must approve work.
- Water source: a private or irrigation well needs a different, usually multi-stage, setup.
- Upkeep: filters, membranes and media all have replacement schedules.
What a good quote includes
- The test results it is based on, written down.
- Model names and what each stage does.
- Installation details: location, bypass, drain and any plumbing changes.
- Maintenance schedule and what each service involves.
- Warranty terms in writing.
Use how to compare water treatment quotes to line up offers fairly.
Ownership costs to ask about
Ask how often each filter or membrane is replaced, whether you can do it yourself, what a service visit includes, and how a free chlorination period or a change in your utility's treatment might affect filter life. Broward County, for example, posts scheduled free chlorination periods by district on its water quality page. See annual cost of owning a whole-home water filter.
Financing
Living Water offers financing through its financing partners; you apply with a credit application, and a co-applicant can apply with you. There are no set monthly amounts to quote here; terms come from the financing partner after you apply.
Costs that are easy to miss
- Permits or association approvals for condo and townhome work.
- Plumbing changes to reach the main line or add a bypass.
- A drain or outlet if the system needs one.
- Replacement media and filters over the years you own it.
