The four options compared
| Option | Good for | Limits |
|---|---|---|
| Pitcher | Small households, renters | Small capacity; many are rated only for chlorine, not chloramine |
| Fridge filter | Convenience | Small cartridge, short contact time |
| Under-sink alkaline RO | Drinking and cooking water | Needs cabinet space and a drain |
| Whole-home system | Chloramine at every tap | Not a dedicated drinking-water polisher |
What Davie's water means for the choice
Town of Davie Utilities water is produced at the System V reverse osmosis plant and carries a chloramine residual averaging 3.2 ppm, according to the 2025 Water Quality Report. Since the minerals are largely removed at the plant, the main thing people notice in a glass is the disinfectant taste. A unit that handles chloramine well is the priority.
If Sunrise, Cooper City, Hollywood, Broward County, Ferncrest Utilities or Fort Lauderdale water serves your address, check that utility's report, or let Jorge measure it.
Why alkaline RO is popular
Living Water's under-sink systems are multi-stage alkaline RO units with a dedicated faucet, for homes, offices, apartments and gyms. The alkaline stage adds minerals back after the membrane, which many people prefer for taste. See under-sink RO in Davie and the compact alkaline RO page.
On a private well
Well water needs whole-supply treatment designed from its test before a drinking-water unit makes sense; iron or sulfur can foul an RO membrane. Start with well water treatment in Davie and a certified lab test for bacteria and nitrate, as the Florida Department of Health recommends.
Offices, apartments and gyms
Living Water's under-sink alkaline RO systems are also used in offices, apartments and gyms. Around Davie's university and business corridors, a single unit in a break room can replace a bottled-water delivery routine. The unit is sized for the number of people using it each day, and the quote lists the filter schedule so the ongoing cost is clear up front.
How to choose
- Find out who supplies your water, or whether you are on a well.
- Test at your kitchen tap.
- Decide what matters: taste, convenience, a fridge line, or a specific contaminant.
- For any specific contaminant, choose a model certified for it under NSF/ANSI 53 or 58 and check its listing.
