The equipment choices that move the price
- Number of stages. More stages mean more cartridges to buy now and replace later.
- Alkaline remineralization. Living Water's under-sink systems are alkaline RO, which adds a stage after the membrane. See alkaline vs. standard RO.
- Tank or tankless. Different footprints, flow and parts. Compare them in tankless vs. tank RO.
- Faucet. A dedicated drinking faucet is standard; finish and style can vary.
- Extra connections. A line to the refrigerator or ice maker adds tubing and fittings.
Doral installation factors
Doral's housing mix shapes the install:
- Condos and apartments: limited cabinet space, a garbage disposal sharing the drain, a stone countertop that needs a faucet hole, and building rules on when work can be done.
- Townhomes and single-family homes: more room, but sometimes a longer run to reach the refrigerator.
- Offices and gyms in Doral's business district: higher daily use may call for more production or storage, and the install may need to fit around building management schedules.
Each of these affects labor time and parts, which is why a quote over the phone is a guess.
Why Doral water affects ongoing cost
Doral's water comes from Miami-Dade WASD and carries chloramine as the disinfectant; WASD's 2025 report lists a Main System average of 2.5 parts per million. Chloramine is handled by the carbon stages ahead of the membrane, and how quickly those stages are used up depends on your water and how much you drink. That is why filter change intervals differ between homes. Hardness and sediment at your tap affect membrane life as well, so a test before buying gives a better estimate of ongoing cost.
What a good quote should show
| Line item | What to look for |
|---|---|
| System | Brand, model, stage count, tank or tankless |
| Installation | Faucet, drain connection, countertop drilling, fridge line if wanted |
| First filter set | Included or not |
| Replacement schedule | Which filters, how often, and the membrane interval |
| Warranty | What is covered and for how long |
| Financing | If you use it, through Living Water's financing partners with a credit application; a co-applicant can apply with you |

Ownership costs to ask about
- How often each filter is replaced at your usage, and the cost of each set.
- When the membrane is typically replaced.
- Whether service visits are included or billed separately.
- How much water goes to the drain for each gallon produced. During the February 2026 water shortage warning, the City of Doral asked residents to conserve, so this matters here.
