The main price drivers
| Driver | Why it matters in Greenacres |
|---|---|
| Target | Chloramine on county water vs. iron, sulfur and hardness on a well |
| Scope | Whole-home, under-sink, or both |
| Flow and household size | Sets system size |
| Location and HOA rules | May affect where and how equipment is installed |
| Drain and power | Needed for some systems |
County water vs. well water
On PBCWUD water, a quote usually covers a whole-home system for chloramine and possibly an under-sink RO. On a well, it covers equipment chosen from the well's test, possibly including iron and hydrogen sulfide treatment. Those are different jobs with different costs. See well water treatment cost in Florida.
What an itemized quote should show
- The exact model and what it is designed to treat.
- Installation work: bypass, fittings, any re-routing on the house side of the meter.
- Permits, if your job requires one.
- Replacement media or filter schedule.
- Warranty terms in writing.
- What is not included.
See why water filtration quotes differ.
Ownership costs to ask about
- How often filters or media are replaced.
- Whether service visits are included.
- Any water or electricity the system uses.
The annual cost of owning a whole-home filter guide lists the questions in detail.
Right-sizing for county water
PBCWUD softens and membrane-treats its eastern water before adding chloramine, so many Greenacres homes do not need a softener in the package. If a quote includes one, ask for the hardness reading behind it. If it includes a drinking-water system, ask what your TDS is now. Paying only for what your water needs is the simplest way to control cost.
Irrigation wells are a separate line item
If your home has an irrigation well that stains walls and walks, treating it is a separate job from filtering the house's county water. Some quotes bundle both; ask for them to be itemized separately so you can decide on each. Sometimes the answer for the irrigation side is as simple as re-aiming sprinkler heads.
