Start with the problem, not the product
Lauderhill's water is lime softened and disinfected at the City plant. The common reasons to filter here are disinfectant taste and smell (2.6 ppm average in the 2025 report), the faint color the City flagged against an aesthetic standard, and better drinking water. If your goal is only drinking water, a kitchen system costs far less than treating the whole house. If you want every shower improved, whole-home is the scope.
What drives the price
- System type: whole-home, under-sink RO, softener, or a combination.
- Size: bathrooms, people in the house and peak flow.
- Media: chlorine and chloramine need different media, which is why Jorge tests free and total chlorine first.
- Plumbing access: where the main enters, slab or garage, distance to a drain, and whether irrigation needs to be split off.
- Building rules: condo associations may limit work on shared lines.
- Permits where required.
Three common Lauderhill scenarios
| Home | Typical scope | What moves the price |
|---|---|---|
| Second-floor condo | Under-sink RO at the kitchen | Cabinet space, drain access, association rules |
| Townhome | Under-sink RO, sometimes whole-home | Where the main enters and how much room there is |
| Single-family house | Whole-home plus kitchen RO | Bathrooms, main line size, irrigation split, outdoor location |
A business, such as a restaurant or laundry, is quoted separately from its daily water use and equipment, usually with a softening plant.
What an itemized quote should list
- The exact equipment model and its certifications.
- Installation labor and any plumbing changes.
- Replacement filters or media and their schedule.
- Warranty terms for equipment and labor.
- What is not included.

Costs after installation
Ask what you will replace, how often, and who does it. Whole-home media, RO prefilters and membranes, and softener salt all have their own schedules. Read annual cost of owning a whole-home filter.
Financing
Living Water offers financing through its financing partners. You apply with a credit application, and a co-applicant can apply with you. Before you apply, read financing questions to ask so you understand the agreement. Paying cash or financing, the quote should be the same itemized document.
