Chloramine and your prefilters
The City disinfects with chloramines, with samples up to 3.4 ppm in 2025. Chloramine can harm some RO membranes, so the carbon prefilter must be suited to it, and on chloramine water it may need changing more often than on free chlorine water. Ask how the prefilter was chosen and how often it is replaced. During the City's yearly free chlorine weeks, the same prefilter handles free chlorine.
Ongoing costs
- Sediment and carbon prefilters.
- The membrane, on a longer cycle.
- The alkaline cartridge.
- Water sent to drain during production.

What the install involves
Most installs are routine: mount the unit, tap the cold line, add a drain saddle and set the faucet. Time and cost rise with a stone countertop that needs drilling, a cabinet crowded by a disposal, or tubing run across the kitchen to a refrigerator. Jorge looks at all of it during the free test so the quote matches your kitchen. If space is tight, a compact tankless unit may fit where a tank model will not.
Villas, condos and rentals
Under-sink RO usually fits within association rules because it stays under one sink, but a countertop hole may need approval, and access hours can affect scheduling. Renters should get the owner's permission. Ask before you book.
