What Seacoast reports
| Item | 2025 report |
|---|---|
| Fluoride added | No |
| Measured level | 0.13 ppm (March 2023 sample) |
| Natural level described | Under 0.2 ppm |
| Maximum allowed | 4 ppm |
Inorganic contaminants like fluoride are monitored on a multi-year schedule, which is why the sample date is earlier than the report year.
The report attributes fluoride to erosion of natural deposits.
Why the level is low
Seacoast treats its fresh aquifer water with nanofiltration, which it describes as demineralization, and its brackish water with reverse osmosis. Membranes reduce many dissolved minerals, and what remains is the small natural amount reported.
If you moved here from a city that fluoridated until recently, the difference at your tap is real, but it comes from treatment and policy, not from your filter.
That is typical of membrane-treated water across northern Palm Beach County.
If you want less
- Under-sink RO: the common method; check its NSF/ANSI 58 listing for fluoride reduction.
- Ordinary carbon filters generally do not reduce fluoride.
- Whole-home filters target chloramine, not fluoride.
- Distillation is another home method, slower and more energy-intensive.
Bottled water fluoride varies by brand; the label or bottler can tell you.
Check every claim on the certifier's listing for the exact model, not just the brand.
Health questions
We make no health claims for or against fluoride. Talk with your dentist or doctor about fluoride for your family, including children.
If you have young children, your pediatrician or dentist can advise on fluoride from other sources, such as toothpaste.
Our role is the water side: explaining what is in it and what a given system does.
What an RO system does at your sink
A home RO membrane reduces many dissolved solids, fluoride among them, and its carbon stages reduce chloramine. An alkaline stage then adds a small amount of minerals back for taste. Check the performance data sheet for each claim. See alkaline vs. standard RO.
Seacoast's membranes already remove much of the dissolved mineral content, so the reading at your tap starts low. An RO system lowers it further, and the before-and-after numbers show by how much.
Seeing the difference
Jorge measures total dissolved solids before and after RO so you see the membrane working; for a fluoride-specific number, a certified lab is the tool. Call, text or WhatsApp (305) 793-5974. See under-sink RO in North Palm Beach.
A TDS reading is not a fluoride measurement, but it shows the membrane working.
