What is in the water now
NMB Water says fluoride is a naturally occurring mineral and trace amounts will remain because it is present in the groundwater. Part of NMB's supply already goes through reverse osmosis at the plant before blending. The fluoride line in NMB's annual report shows measured levels; the change happened mid-2025, so read the sampling dates and footnotes. For a reading from your own tap, use a certified lab.
Filters that reduce fluoride
- Reverse osmosis: a common method. Look for an NSF/ANSI 58 listing with a fluoride claim on the exact model.
- Activated alumina: specialty media; depends on pH and contact time.
- Standard carbon: most pitchers, fridge filters and whole-home carbon are not designed for fluoride.
A condo-sized answer
Most people who want less fluoride care about drinking and cooking water, which in a Sunny Isles condo points to an under-sink RO system rather than anything on the building's main line. Living Water's alkaline RO units are multi-stage systems with a remineralization stage that adds minerals back for taste. Ask Jorge for the certification documents on the exact model to confirm its reduction claims.
How to verify a claim
Open the certifier's online listing for the exact model number. Confirm that fluoride appears by name, the standard it was tested under, and the rated capacity. Phrases like "advanced purification" on packaging are not certification. If a seller cannot show you the listing, keep looking.
Second homes and rentals
If you are away part of the year or rent your unit, think about filter timing as well as certification. An RO system that sits idle for months should be flushed on your return according to the manufacturer's instructions, and cartridges past their rated capacity no longer meet their claims. Put the replacement dates where you, or whoever manages the unit, will see them. If you are on a private well anywhere else, remember its fluoride depends on the aquifer alone and calls for its own lab test.
Our position
We do not take sides on fluoride and health. NMB Water recommends consulting your dentist, pediatrician or healthcare provider with questions about fluoride and dental health. Our role is to explain what equipment is certified to do. Call, text or WhatsApp (305) 793-5974 for a free visit.
