What changed in 2025
WASD's 2025 Water Quality Report says the three regional plants discontinued adding fluoride as of June 6, 2025, to comply with County Resolution R-370-25 and Florida Senate Bill 700, which took effect July 1, 2025. WASD says the change does not significantly affect treatment or compliance with water quality standards. The fluoride that remains occurs naturally in the soil and the Biscayne Aquifer.
Do you still need a fluoride filter?
That is a personal decision, and Living Water does not make health claims for or against fluoride. With added fluoride gone, some Westchester households that were considering a fluoride filter decide they no longer need one; others still prefer the lowest practical level. For dental or medical questions, ask your dentist or doctor.
How fluoride is reduced
| Method | Notes |
|---|---|
| Reverse osmosis | A common point-of-use method; check the model's listing |
| Activated alumina | Specialty media; performance depends on pH and contact time |
| Standard carbon | Not designed for fluoride |
Look for certification under NSF/ANSI 58 (RO) that names fluoride for the exact model.
What Living Water offers
Living Water's under-sink alkaline RO is a multi-stage RO drinking-water system. If fluoride reduction matters to you, ask Jorge for the specific model's specifications and check its certification listing. A whole-home city water system is aimed at chloramine, not fluoride.
Questions to ask about a fluoride claim
- Does the exact model's NSF/ANSI 58 listing name fluoride reduction?
- What test conditions and capacity is the claim based on?
- How often must the membrane and pre-filters be replaced to keep that performance?
- Does the alkaline stage add anything back that affects the reading?
Getting the answers in writing is the simplest way to compare systems honestly.
Reading the fluoride line in WASD's report
WASD's 2025 data table lists fluoride for the main system with a footnote explaining that it is monitored daily at the plants where it used to be added. Because the change happened partway through 2025, the yearly range in that table includes readings from before and after June 6. The footnote's post-change figure, about 0.1 to 0.3 ppm, is the one that describes Westchester's water now. Next year's report should show a full year without added fluoride.

Natural fluoride varies by well. A certified lab test tells you what yours has. Call, text or WhatsApp (305) 793-5974 for a free in-home visit.
